My previous H1B visa expired on 16 Sep2010. My employer applied for extension and the Received date of the application at USCIS was 04Aug2010. I got extension approval with valid from date 09Dec2010 for 3 years. Does it mean that I am out-of-status for period 16Sep2010 to 09Dec2010? Would it have amy implications on my Green Card processing?

No. You are not out of status when the case is being processed.
